Responsibilities:

• General husbandry, housing and identification of experimental animals;
• Animal health care, disease detection, treatment, and euthanasia;
• Animal handling and restraint;
• Surgery and post-operative care;
• Assist the scientific staff in the conduct of scientific projects;
• Equipment operation and maintenance;
• Sanitation of the animal facility;
• Laboratory procedures;
• Record keeping and Quality Assurance;
• Inventory maintenance

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Education/Experience

• Veterinary Technology Diploma (VTE) or Registered Laboratory Animal Technician (RLAT) certification;
• Minimum of 2 years experience.

Specific Skills

• Good organizational and communication skills; computer literacy and accuracy and attention to details. 
• Knowledge of CCAC guidelines and WHMIS policies and procedures an asset.
• Ability to work as a team player
• Willingness to work overtime and on weekend rotations a must.
